Major works related to the study of the structure of atomic nuclei, the isotopy. In 1913, he put forward the hypothesis that the charge of the nucleus of an atom is numerically equal to the ordinal number of the corresponding element in the periodic. Subsequently, this hypothesis is brilliantly justified. At that time, Van den Broek was proposed proton-electron model of the atomic nucleus.
