Agapeev Aleksandr Petrovich (1868 - 1904), professor of the Academy of General Staff, Colonel, one of the most educated and brave companions Admiral Makarov during his stay in Port Arthur. Agapeev served as chief of the Military Department headquarters Makarova and died with him on "Petropavlovsk". Agapeev was an outstanding expert in military affairs and military history. He owns a number of published works: "Arcole", "The war for sure," "The history of strategy and tactics of wage and standing armies of new states", etc.. His truthful and talented letter from Port Arthur, published in the Warsaw diary, provide valuable material for the history of Russian-Japanese War. In Port Arthur Agapeev went at the invitation Makarova voluntarily.
