Helen Weigel (Weigel)

Weigel, Elena (Weigel), German actress, wife of Bertolt Brecht. Born May 12, 1900 in Vienna. In 1918 she made her debut in "New Theater" in Frankfurt. In 1923-32 appeared on the stages of major theaters in Berlin. Acted in plays by Brecht's "Drums in the Night," "In the jungle of cities," the highest form, "What the soldier that this" etc.. In 1933 his family emigrated from Nazi Germany. Performed on stage in Paris and Copenhagen.
