Biography Köºthe Kollwitz (Kollwitz)
Kollwitz, Kaethe (Kollwitz), (1867-1945), German painter. Born July 8, 1867 in Konigsberg. Born Schmidt. She studied at Charles Shtaufera-Berne to Berlin and Ludwig Geteriha in Munich. In 1919-33 was a professor of the Academy of Fine Arts. After the Nazis came to power, creativity Kollwitz subjected to brutal pressure from the Nazi ideology. Until 1943 she lived in Berlin. Her drawings, engravings and lithographs on the life of ordinary people and differing sophistication of style and compositional limit expressiveness, and brought her worldwide fame. She died in Moritzburg, near Dresden, 22 April 1945.
