Kollwitz, Kaethe (Kollwitz), (1867-1945), German painter. Born July 8, 1867 in Konigsberg. Born Schmidt. She studied at Charles Shtaufera-Berne to Berlin and Ludwig Geteriha in Munich. In 1919-33 was a professor of the Academy of Fine Arts. After the Nazis came to power, creativity Kollwitz subjected to brutal pressure from the Nazi ideology. Until 1943 she lived in Berlin.
