Biography BOGATYR Semen Semenovich
Bogatyrev, Semen Semenovich (1890-1960), Russian music theorist, teacher. Born in Kharkov, 3 (15) February 1890 Domestic Servant. In 1912 he graduated from the Faculty of Kharkov University in 1915 - Petrograd Conservatory composition class II Vitola, VP Kalafati, MO Steinberg. In 1917-1941 he lived primarily in Kharkiv, taught at the Conservatoire (since 1935 Professor). In 1943-1960 he was a professor of Moscow Conservatory. Among his pupils composers IO Dunaevskii, YS Meitus, A. Ya Shtogarenko, SF Tsintsadze, A. Karamanov. In 1946 Bohatyriova was awarded the title "Honored Artist of the RSFSR ', Doctor of Arts (1947).
In his theoretical writings - "Double canon" (1947), "Reversible Counterpoint" (1960) - was the scientific traditions of Taneyev. Restored the unfinished symphony in E flat major Tchaikovsky (performed in 1957). Author of musical works.
Bogatyrev died in Moscow on December 31, 1960.
