Lithuanian MP calls for reciprocal measures in case of militarization of Kaliningrad
Member of the Lithuanian Seimas, Member of the Foreign Affairs Committee Emanuel Zinger calls Lithuania as a NATO country to get prepared for a possible aggression from the Russian side and "take reciprocal steps."
As a REGNUM correspondent informs, Zinger made the announcement today by sending his statement to the media. According to the MP, Lithuania "is closely watching actions of its neighbor, from which within 300 years, it has been suffering losses, aggression, annexation, deportation and the 173-year occupation."
"Sergey Ivanov?s promise to deploy missiles in Karalaucius (this is the way Lithuanians call Kainingrad, as they believe that the territory of Kaliningrad Region must belong to Lithuania, as it allegedly belongs to Small Lithuania - REGNUM) makes us think over seriously the words said by the Russian official," the MP announced. He added: "Moreover, the missiles will be targeted against our allies." Further, Zinger says in his statement that deployment of US missile interceptor bases in Poland and Czechia is a purely peaceful initiative, but not an act of aggression against Russia. The official said that "Russia?s inadequate reaction" in case of "militarization of Karalaucius" is a hostile attitude towards Europe, to which adequate measures should be taken as response.
