Tommy Lee apologizes for MTV brawl
Rock drummer Tommy Lee has apologized to Alicia Keys and MTV for getting involved in a fight during the R&B singer`s performance at the cable network`s Video Music Awards show over the weekend.
But he had no kind words for his sparring partner, rock singer Kid Rock, whom he described as a "wuss" and a "country bumpkin."
The two musicians are both former husbands of actress Pamela Anderson, a presenter during Sunday`s event at the Palms casino in Las Vegas, and there is little love lost between them.
Lee said in a posting on his Web site (http://www.tommylee.tv) that he was having a good time at the show, catching up with old friends, when Kid Rock tapped him on the shoulder. Lee said he stood up to embrace him and exchange pleasantries.
"He punches me in the face," Lee recounted. "Well if ya wanna call it that!? ... More like a bitch slap!"
Lee said he started to retaliate, but hotel security guards hauled him out, threatening to break his arm. Lee`s own bodyguard told them to let go, and Lee was escorted to his hotel room by police and Palms co-owner George Maloof.
"I would like to apologize to Alicia and George and MTV for the disrespectful bull caused by a piece of s--- called Kid Pebble," Lee said.
Kid Rock, whose real name is Bob Ritchie, was allowed to watch the rest of the show. He was later cited for misdemeanor battery by Las Vegas police.
