Rada has recognized the deportation of Crimean Tatars in 1944 a genocide
Ukraine's Parliament recognized the deportation of Crimean Tatars from Crimea in 1944, the genocide of the Crimean Tatar people - the proper ruling on Thursday was supported by 245 MPs with the necessary minimum of 226 votes.
Almost all Crimean Tatars - about 190 thousand people - 18 of may 1944, were deported from Crimea, 180 thousand were placed in the Uzbek SSR. The Crimean Tatars referred to as the relocation of the 1944 deportation, the majority of people perceive this event as a national tragedy. Leaders of the national movement of the Crimean Tatars claim that the conclusion on the relocation was an act of genocide against the Crimean Tatar people.
