In the USA executed a man who killed 2 young children
The man convicted of killing a couple and their two young daughters at their home in Virginia was executed on Wednesday. The local authorities in Virginia said the 39-year-old inmate Ricky gray was pronounced dead at 9:42 am after a lethal injection at a correctional centre in Jarratt.
To the question whether he had any last words before death sentence will be carried out, gray said, "No." Gray was sentenced to death in 2006 for the murder of 9-year-old Stella Harvey and 4-year-old ruby.
The family was preparing to host friends for lunch, when gray and his nephew, were looking for a house to Rob and saw them open the door. Court records report that the men tied up a family and put them in the basement. Grey stabbed them with a knife, and then set the house on fire. He took away a computer, a wedding ring and a basket of biscuits.
The murder of a well known family shook the capital of Virginia. Less than a week followed by the murder of another family in Richmond. Kathryn Harvey was co-owner of the popular toy store, Bryan Harvey was a guitarist and vocalist of the rock Duo.
The local authorities in Virginia said they planned to use midazolam and potassium chloride. Virginia is the first state, which used midazolam and potassium chloride during the procedure execution. Gray's lawyers criticized the injection, saying that even execution would be more humane. Midazolam has come under fire after several problem executions in other States, critics argue that prisoners die a painful death because you don't fall into unconsciousness.
Gray's attorneys asked the U.S. Supreme court to delay the execution so they could challenge the decision on the introduction of this injection, but the Supreme court rejected the request without explanation. Gray's lawyers had previously asked the Governor of Virginia Terry McAuliffe to save the life of a prisoner, stating that his actions were the result of drug use. McAuliffe said he found no reason to intervene, adding that he believes that gray received a fair and impartial trial.
