South Korea prosecutors demand arrest warrant for Park Geun-Hye
South Korean prosecutors said Monday that they require a warrant for the arrest of President Park Geun-Hye.
"The suspect had abused the power and position of President to take bribes and violated the freedom of corporate management, as well as the leakage of important and sensitive official information", - reads the statement of the Prosecutor of the Central district of Seoul.
The request will be heard by judge of the Central district court of Seoul, which then decides on the issuance of the warrant of arrest. At this hearing the date is not set.
March 10, Pak was removed from office after the constitutional court of South Korea upheld the decision of impeachment on charges of corruption and nepotism. The scandal, which has become a cause for impeachment for many months was discussed in politics of South Korea.
Pak was accused in the fact that it is possible to influence the course of Seoul's longtime friend and adviser Choi Dream silu, who is under investigation for abuse of power and fraud. The constitutional court agreed with the accusations that Park had abused their powers, helping Choi to collect donations from companies to create funds that it established.
Three people were killed in violent protests that broke out in Seoul after a court decision. Presidential elections will be held may 9.
