Alicia Keys is pregnant with her first child
The singer is dating rapper Swizz Beatz, and there have been repeated rumours they are planning to marry. Alicia`s representative has now confirmed the reports are true, and that the couple are looking forward to the arrival of their first child together.
"They are expecting a baby and are engaged to be married in a private ceremony later this year," the spokesman confirmed.
The couple attended the Black Ball in London together on Thursday. The event raises money for Alicia`s charity Keep a Child Alive, which helps kids and families who have been affected by HIV or AIDS.
Swizz and Alicia have been dating since May 2009. They prompted speculation they were engaged in January, when Alicia was seen sporting a seven-carat diamond ring on the third finger of her left hand.
Swizz has two children from previous relationships. He was previously married to Mashonda Tifrere, although they are now divorced. It will be Alicia`s first marriage.
Alicia, 29, has been open about her desire to start a family, saying she hopes to be as good at parenting as her own mother.
"Absolutely! I definitely want to get married and become a mother. I`m going to have kids, and retire to some hot tropical location," she said. "Love is the most important thing in the world. I`m definitely in love with life, and myself, and music. I have a lot of love in my life and I cherish it a lot."
