Jennifer Hudson uses music to help her through difficulties
The Oscar-winning star lost her mother Darnell Hudson Donerson, 57, brother Jason Hudson, 29, and seven-year-old nephew Julian King in a grisly shooting spree in October 2008 and Jennifer admits she found solace in her art.
She told Pride magazine: "My music is my therapy. Someone asked me to do a film about a year back, and I was like, `No, I can`t do a film right now because I can`t be someone else if I don`t know who I am.`
"I`m just trying to figure out where I am and who I am right now, and I could only resort back to music because that`s like my home, my first love, my therapy, my everything. When I wake up in the morning I can`t function if music is not playing, I can`t even start the day, so it`s a base for me."
Jennifer found fame on pop star search show `American Idol` and she returned to the programme for the first timeon 24.03.11 to perform `Where You At`.
However, her appearance was overshadowed by the elimination and then rescue of judges` favourite Casey Abrams.
The 19-year-old California hopeful failed to secure enough of the public vote to survive after he found himself in the bottom three alongside Stefano Langone and Thia Megia.
However, Steven Tyler announced he and shocked fellow judges Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson had made the decision to use their only save of the season to keep him in.
He said: "This is crazy wrong. We made a decision here to keep you on."
There will now be two eliminations on next week`s `American Idol`.
