Prince Charles drank beer with American farmers
Prince Charles and his wife Camilla visited a San Francisco organic farmers` market in the Californian hills. Royal couple was solemnly greeted and entertained.
Camilla, wearing a navy blue trouser suit, tried local produce, including cheese and salmon fishcake. She later enjoyed half a pint of beer in a pub.
"I`m eating my way around here. Luckily I`ve got a good appetite," she said.
Meanwhile, Prince Charles talked to farmers as the couple visited the Marin County Market in Point Reyes Station.
At the first stall in the farmers` market on Saturday Camilla was given some Super Rose moisturiser. She dabbed it on her nose and then held her hand out so Charles could smell the organic skin cream.
Susan Adams, owner of the Moonflower stall, said: "I told her that these are products that keep my 50-year-old skin looking healthy. She snapped it right up."
The royal couple then went into an old-fashioned saloon bar called the Old Western Hotel where they were greeted warmly by landlady Judy Borello. The prince tried a pint of the local Boot Hammer ale while Camilla drank half a pint of IPA.
As the royal couple went back out into the bright Californian sunshine, Charles patted the bar`s dog Fred and then the pair shook hands with a few of the several hundred people who had come to meet them.
