Alicia Keys is launching a storytelling app for kids
The `New York` singer gave birth to her son Egypt two years ago, and has used her own experience of motherhood as inspiration for her new interactive bedtime story, `The Journals of Mama Mae and LeeLee`.
Alicia explained: ``I was just getting introduced to kind of the TV shows and the DVDs and all the things you start kind of introducing your kids to, and I thought how cool it would be to be a part of something that really allows them to hear music from different places, different cultures, different sounds. That`s what we`re able to do with this.``
The 31-year-old star - who is married to record producer Swizz Beatz - composed music for the app, which tells the story of a young girl from New York and her relationship with her wise grandmother
The tale is loosely based on Alicia`s own childhood. It lets users read books, play music and write in a journal.
She said: "It does remind me of my world. The piano, the journal, music`s such a big part of my life, the city, all of that."
The singer is launching the project via her company AK Worldwide and Bento Box Interactive.
The interactive app came out on Thursday (25.10.12).
