Colin Farrell is to be honoured at a pre-Oscars bash
The `Seven Psychopaths` star will be celebrated at the eighth annual Oscar Wilde: Honouring the Irish in Film party at `Lost` producer J.J Abrams` Bad Robot Productions in Santa Monica on February 21. The 36-year-old father-of-two - who won a Golden Globe award for his role in `In Bruges` in 2009 - is just one of a number of special honourees that will be celebrated at the prestigious event, which has previously recognised `My Week With Marilyn` star Michelle Williams, `Bridesmaids` actress Melissa McCarthy, `Once Upon A Time` star Sarah Bolger, `Atonement` actress Saoirse Ronan and `The Tudors` star Jonathan Rhys Meyers.
The event was created by the non-profit US-Ireland Alliance to recognise the contributions of the Irish in film and television and as a glitzy networking event.
Dublin based acoustic indie folk duo the Heathers are set to perform at the red-carpet event, which is scheduled to take place in its traditional spot on the Thursday night before the Academy Awards. The `Total Recall` star - who recently completed filming the new Disney movie `Saving Mr. Banks` alongside Tom Hanks - will appear in a number of big budget movies later this year, including the action feature `Dead Man Down` and in May he will also be heard opposite Beyonce and Amanda Seyfried in the Fox animated film `Epic` from the creators of `Ice Age.`
Colin is currently holidaying in his native Dublin, where he attended the Irish premier of `Les Miserables` on 07.01.13.
The actor has enjoyed several weeks off with his family and he bought and delivered more than a hundred gifts to young patients in Our Lady`s Children`s Hospital in the city on Christmas Day (25.12.12).
According to parents of the patients, the heartthrob arrived at the hospital completely unannounced and delighted families by spending several hours chatting to the children and staff, as well as giving them gifts.
