Vyacheslav Fetisov sent in resignation
Vyacheslav Fetisov considers impossible to combine positions of the head of Federal Agency over physical training and sport and Russian Olympic committee. This was announced by the head of Russian Sport on Tuesday on press-conference.
"Believe me, the head of federal organ has enough work to do. It is giant public load, international one. For 3 weeks I flew to Canada 3 times, participated in sessions of World anti-doping agency", - answered Fetisov on question why he doesn`t put his candidature for position of Russian Olympic Committee.
"I consider that it is wrong to combine 2 leading positions", - he added.
7 candidates will participate in struggle for Russian Olympic Committee (ROC) president position. They are current head Leonid Tyagachev, president of Shooting Association of Russia Vladimir Lisin, the director of All-Russian volunteer organization "Sport Russia" Irina Rodnina, vice-president of ROC Valery Kuzmin, famous Russian swimmer, vice-president of All-Russian swimming federation Alexander Popov, vice-president of ROC Victor Khotochkin and president of All-Russian track and field athletics Valentin Balakhnichev.
Election of president will be held on December 22.
