Irina Rodnina considers herself undefeated in election of ROC president
Chairman of Central Council of All-Russian free-will community "Sport Russia" Irina Rodnina doesn`t consider herself defeated in election of Russian Olympic Committee president, which ended on Thursday with reelection of Leonid Tyagachev on new term.
"There are no winners and losers. The main goal is contribution to national sport", - she announced.
Rodnina briefly formulated issues, which need special attention from her point of view. "First of all there must be the distinct contracts between ROC and Sport Federations, ROC and Rossport", - she noted. "Sportsmen must be legally protected", - added ex-sportswoman.
Among evident disadvantages of ROC work Rodnina named "opacity of many decisions, financial in particular".
3-times Olympic champion reminded that International Olympic committee spends 6% of budget on maintenance of its apparatus, while the expenses of Russian Olympic Committee on those needs amount to 66%.
As a conclusion, Irina Rodnina gave an optimistic forecast to Russian Olympic sportsmen`s performance on winter Games in Turin.
As a reminder, Irina Rodnina and president of All-Russian track and field athletics Federation Valentin Balakhnichev were candidates for position of ROC president but current president Leonid Tyagachev was reelected by majority of votes.
