Elena Sokolova won Russian figure-skating championship
Elena Sokolova became the champion of the country for third time in career. Victoria Volchkova took the second place and Lilia Biktagirova - the third one. World champion Irina Slutskaya missed the competitions, which take place in Kazan, because of flu.
Skating of all 3 championship prize-winners was not brilliant. Victoria Volchkova, taking the second position after short program, performed cascade of triple lutz - double toeloop, then did triple flip and triple salchow, but there were several mistakes afterwards.
Elena Sokolova fell while performing triple toeloop but the rest of jumps were excellent. Therefore, she has got high score. 3 sportswomen will participate in winter Olympiad in Turin. Slutskaya and Sokolova are already in national team but the candidate on third vacancy will be determined after European championship in Lion. The main candidate at present moment is Victoria Volchkova, who resumed trainings after trauma month ago.
