Condoleezza Rice appealed Russia to responsibility in gas conflict
USA state secretary Condoleezza Rice appealed Russia to act more responsible in gas conflict with Ukraine, which threatens the gas supplies to Europe and arouses condemnation of international community.
Condoleezza Rice declared that "this is not the way business should be done". "If Russia wants to be part and responsible participant of world economics, then it should play by rules", - emphasized state secretary.
Rice considered ironic the fact that culmination of gas conflict fell at first day of new year, when Russia became the chairman of G8 of industrially developed countries for the first time.
In opinion of Rice Moscow should understand that political motives of Ukrainian cut off from gas supplies are disapproved by international community.
It should be mentioned that Russia stopped gas supplies to Ukraine on January 1 after refusal of Kiev to pay market price - $230 for thousand of cubic meters of gas instead of $50. Mutual beneficial treaty was signed on January 4. According to contract, Kiev will pay $95 for thousand of cubic meters of natural gas.
