Russia to start bird flu vaccine testing in January
A group of volunteers is to start testing thу vaccine against bird flu virus H5N1, informed the Russian Federation Chief Sanitary Inspector Gennady Onischenko.
"It is a strain, exposed in 1994 in China, when people were getting ill. It is not a pandemic strain", he said. "We are going to develop a vaccine-candidate out of it, which is not to come into operation as a vaccine of broad-spectrum"
According to his words, in case of pandemic strain appearance, this specific vaccine should also appear in the sphere of practical medicine.
