Russian specialists recommences drilling a borehole to unique lake in Antarctica
Polar explorers has recommenced suspended in 1999 drilling of the borehole in the under-glacial lake "Vostok" in Antarctica, reported the press-service of Arctic and Antarctica Research Institute.
According to the press-service, the drilling started in the first days of January, the work goes on a twenty-four hour basis and are to last until the second decade of the month.
The institute specialists are sure, that Russian scientists are to be the first to enter in the under-glacial lake in 2007-2008. Earlier the chief of the Antarctic expedition Valery Lukin told, that penetration through the ice to the lake "by its science merit could be compared only to human landing on the Moon".
