Skier Dementiev takes first Olympic gold for Russia
Russian skier became the Olympic champion in men`s duathlon - race of 15 km by classical style and 15 km by free style.
Eugeni Dementiev burst past his rivals in the skate to the finish. The second place took Norwegian Frode Estil, who lost only 0.6 seconds to Dementiev. Italian skier Pietro Piller Cottrer won the bronze. Less than one second separated the top three at the finish line after over an hour of racing.
Italian sportsman di Centa Giorgio, who lead the race several meters before finish, was only on 4-th place.
Another Russian skier Ivan Babikov, who helped Dementiev during the race, finished on 13-th position.
The gold of Dementiev became the first for Russian team in Torino. Earlier Evgenia Medvedeva-Arbuzova has won "bronze" in ladies` duathlon.
