Aleksey II appealed to all believers for forgiveness
Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia Aleksey II served vespers of Forgiveness liturgy and appealed to all believers to forgive all sorrows and offences.
"I appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to remember those we quarreled with, offended or blamed. And to ask for their forgiveness, to release the soul from weight of sin and to enter Great fast reconciled", - said Aleksey II after service.
"Looking back to my life and Patriarch service I ask for forgiveness if I didn`t listen to someone, grieved someone or didn`t sympathy in illness, grief and loss of relatives. Forgive me if I sinned by deed or thought", - asked the Patriarch.
He emphasized that forgiveness must be mutual and reminded that this customs goes back to Christianity, when monks gathered in temple, bid firewall to each other and left to deserts for deeds of prayers, confession and temperance. Many of them realized that may not return home and reconciled with each other not to leave the trace of insult in soul.
The patriarch blessed several thousands of believers, who came to the Cathedral that evening, by icon of Savior and Blessed Virgin.
