Bulgarian Veselin Topalov is Chess World Champion
In Argentinean San-Luis became known new Chess World Champion.
After all games of next to last 13-th tour ended up with draw, Fide world champion became Veselin Topalov who kept advantage of 1.5 points from pursuers - Russian Peter Swidler and Indian Vishvanatan Anand.
Bulgarian gross master has 9.5 points out of 13 possible. It is notable that in first part of tournament Topalov has won 6 games out of 7 holding a record for tournament of such rank, and during last part of tournament he ended 6 games with draw. Swindler and Anand have both 8 points and they will struggle for second place.
Besides title of World Champion Topalov, who became the first Bulgarian to win this tournament, was awarded title of strongest chess player of planet and 300 thousands of USA dollars. The rest prizes will be divided following way: second place - 200, third - 140, fourth - 100, fifth - 80, sixth - 70, seventh - 60, eighth - 50 thousands dollars.
