Russian investigators opened a criminal Case after restriction of liberty correspondent Andrei Grigoriev and Elena Makarova in Kiev, is notified to the Internet representation of the RF IC.
The RF IC insists that the journalist NTV Andrey Grigoriev and journalist of the First channel Elena Makarova, detained in the city centre on February 25, did the material about the procession of the nationalist organization " Right sector ", banned in Russia, and did not violate the law.
"Russian correspondents worked in strict accordance with the editorial mission without violating neither the Russian nor Ukrainian laws. However, the Ukrainian authorities acted absolutely illegitimate and even criminally regarding Russian correspondents, grossly violating not only its own laws, but also the norms of international law. For this reason, the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation wishes to install all persons related to illegal deprivation of liberty and restriction of Russian correspondents, and to hold them accountable under the criminal code, " reads the press release.
"Within a few hours correspondents kept by force employees of the security service of Ukraine ", - said the investigators.
The case was brought by two articles - unlawful deprivation of liberty committed by an organized group and obstruction of the lawful professional activities of journalists, coupled with violence.
