Comedy 'The World of Henry Orient' (The World of Henry Orient, 1964) about the eccentric pianist (Peter Sellers) was noted but did not bring him laurels as tedious blockbuster 'Hawaii' (Hawaii, 1966) on the bestselling book by James Mitchenera. In 1967, Hill set malootsenenny retro musical 'very modern Millie' (Thoroughly Modern Millie) with the divine Julie Andrews and wonderful dance numbers.
. However, only a commercial hit western "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, '(Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, 1969) Hill brought international fame and place in the pantheon of the national genre
. In the traditional attributes of a Western Hill brings a depth and sincerity of feelings of youth counterculture and the elegance of European kinoavangarda. Ragtime Scott Joplin and easy humor makes this comedy from the life kartezhnyh racetrack gamblers and swindlers. The duo of Redford-Newman, as in the previous film, struck his cheerfulness and careful game, built to the smallest detail. Against this backdrop, a satirical fantasy of 'Slaughterhouse-N 5' (Slaughterhouse-Five, . 1972), . tragicomedy of life of the first pilots of 'The Great Waldo Pepper' (The Great Waldo Pepper, . 1975) and a comedy about hockey 'Click' (Slap Shot, . 1977) clearly lost, . though they contained some lively episodes,
. After sweet, . but the surface 'Little love story' (A Little Romance, . 1979) Hill took a rough 'black comedy' 'The World According to Garp' (The World according to Garp) in John Irving's bestseller, . as well as spy drama 'Little drummer' (The Little Drummer Girl) with a charming Diane Keaton,
. Hill's latest movie 'Funny Farm' (Funny Farm, 1988) went unnoticed.
