BROOKS (Brooks) Mel (p. 28. 06. 1926), director, screenwriter, actor, producer. Real name - Melvin Kaminsky.
Born into a poor Jewish family immigraantov from Poland and Russia. Played on a drum under the patronage of Buddy Rich, jazz legend. After a brief involvement in World War II returned to the cabaret, changed his name first on the Brukman (name), and then to Brooks. Put TV 'best show', the author worked in a team 'Young Turks', together with K. Reiner and Neil Simon. In the 60's parody series set for TV 'Be nice' and 'Man 2000 years'.
Since 1954, he wrote scripts for movies.
