Biography Vant-Hoff-Hendrik Jacob (Jacob Vant-Hoff)
(August 30, 1852 - March 1, 1911) Jakob Hendrik van't Hoff fit to Rotterdam in Holland in 1852. An allegedly had four brothers and two sisters. Two of the brothers died in infancy, and one of her sisters died of tuberculosis at the age of eight years. . In 1874 van't Hoff defended his thesis on the study of certain organic acids, and became a doctor of mathematics and natural philosophy . However, in the universities of Holland he had no place to work. Even as a teacher of chemistry was denied. Within two years he gave private lessons in chemistry and physics. Only in 1876, van't Hoff was promoted to associate professor in the veterinary school in Utrecht. Here, after the publication of work on the structures of molecules, to him and came to fame. In 1878 van't Hoff became a professor of chemistry in a short time before the Amsterdam-based University. In the same year he married a merchant's daughter Jenny masses, which he has long loved. Sney he lived until his death. In 1896, van't Hoff was elected a member of the Berlin Academy of Sciences, and he moved with his family in Berlin.
