Biography Atkins Chet (CHET ATKINS)
Across America, probably no man who has not heard of this name. No wonder - one of the most famous guitarists of the United States, . musician and composer, . on the works which are written training manuals for beginning guitarists, . one of the fathers of modern country music and blue grass style, . moreover and media nicknames Mr.Guitar!,

. Who else can boast of such, though unofficial, but longed for a guitarist "nickname" N If you do not know who is this living legend of guitar music, you call: a Chet Atkins
.

Listening to Atkins, it seems that this man was born with a guitar in his hands, and that playing the guitar for him is as natural as for "mere mortal" - Conversation.

Imagine my surprise when I learned that started his musical education Atkins is not a small guitar, but with a violin. However, in 9 years, he realized that his future lies in a completely different instrument - a guitar - and swapped his guitar for a gun belonging to him. It should be noted that history is silent, whether the firearm was real or is it child's play, but in any case, thanks to this wonderful exchange in the world of music has another bright star ...

One of the first mentors of the future guitarist was his older brother, who, incidentally, also later became a very famous musician in the late 30th years played in a pair with the very Les Paul.

By the end of the school, between 1941 th year, Chet was already formed by guitarist. Using his contacts in the music world, he almost immediately settled musician on the radio and appeared on 'Bill Carlisle Show' in the city of Knoxville, Tennessee. Simultaneously, he became a member of the band Dixie Swingers.

Three years later he changed his place of work and signed a contract with a radio station in Cincinnati.

In 1946, Atkins was first appeared in the popular at the time of the transfer of Grand Ole Opry. In the same year his first (as yet no solo) plate.

But do not think that everything in the life of a young musician taking shape easily. The path to fame has been tortuous, and an example of this is permanent dismissal from the Atkins Radio. Over the next few years, he has changed a lot of work because of the rejection of his music management stations. Alas - that today is the canon of guitar music, was once the vanguard and met with resistance.

Life Atkins threw it in St Louis, Missouri, then to Denver, Colorado. However, Fortune still has not left the Couple - as a result of his wanderings around the country, the film with its songs fell into the hands of Steve Sholsa, who at the time headed the Chicago branch of the famous record companies - RCA.

At the end of the tape Shols immediately called Atkins and offered him cooperation.

Soon Thr went to Nashvill, where the studio RCA recorded eight of his compositions, as well as a permanent employee of the company. Through its links with Sholsom, he began to take part in the popular program "Grand Ole Opry". Thus, in Nashvill (which, incidentally, is the historic capital of music "country"), Atkins was his own man

. In 1053-eat, the company made the RCA Chet their permanent consultant in Nashvill, . and by the end of the 50th the whole country knew him as one of the best guitarists, . through his continued participation in the records of records with the most famous performers of America,
.

In 1957 Shols resigned from RCA, leaving Chet manager of the company in Nashvill. However, Corporate work is not killed in a musician Atkins. In 1960, he delighted the audience by his playing at the famous Jazz Festival in Newport, and in 1961 was invited to a recital at the White House.

In the 1965th year, one of his solo tracks hit the top five best songs of the year. It should be noted that this was a huge success, considering that at the time of the courtyard stood rock-n-roll, and Chet was playing country music and jazz ...

Then began a period of a creative slump: Atkins still remained one of the most famous guitarists of the country, but his solo work is rarely rose above the 40 th place.

At the beginning of the 70th Chet again came out of the shadows, but not as a solo artist, but as one of the musicians of the popular trio of Nashville String Band.

By the end of the 70th to work with RCA was difficult for a musician: he has long wanted to write complex jazz compositions, but the company did not allow him, citing the fact that jazz is not popular music. As a result of the increasingly growing controversy in the 82nd year, Chet retired from RCA in the least popular company Columbia Records.

Between the 82nd and 94th years Thr recorded album after album. His style is increasingly manifest desire to jazz, but not disappeared, and notes of his trademark country style. List of famous artists with whom he played Atkins, is so great that list it in one essay, it is simply impossible. Parallel with the work of Columbia Records were published training manuals and videotapes, which were described in detail his methods of play. Due to these benefits thousands of guitarists around the world were able to raise their level of play or expand the range of their capabilities.

The best-known textbook was released in 1996 to the year of and was called The Guitar Of Chet Atkins.

To date, the famous guitarist continues to work in full force - gives concerts, recorded and organizes festivals and foundations. Chet Atkins is not just extraordinary, outstanding guitarist with his unusual style of play, it is also a man who created and supports the whole musical culture. Nashvill would not Nashvill without Chet Atkins.

Separately, I would like to acknowledge the cooperation of a musician with companies Gretch and Gibson. Through this collaboration, in their time a whole series of great guitars. First, the company has released a beautiful Gretch jazz instrument called "Country Gentleman", but after some time, thanks to the ideas of Atkins, the company has released a series of Gibson guitars under his name. The popularity of these guitars are so great that today they are playing all over the world - from David Matthew in America to Zemfira in Russia.

And another interesting point.

Before writing this essay, I turn over the mountain of material written about the Atkins variety of (mostly English-speaking) authors. In my possession were the most detailed parts of his biography, . Some I even dropped, . so as not to bore you with a string of dates and events, . but what surprised me more: Worldwide Chet Atkins is known as a famous guitarist, . but almost no one writes about his wonderful ability to compose songs,
. It is not instrumental music and songs

. I myself, being an admirer of his work, pereslushal many records made by Atkins in different periods of his life, and I want to mention his beautiful poetry and unchanging data, a good sense of humor that is present in all the texts of his songs

. Listening to Chet Atkins records, both exciting and unique game, and relax the soul, listening to his pleasant voice and intelligent, beautiful lyrics.
