Biography Simon Bolivar
Simon Bolivar was born in Venezuela in Caracas, the son of a Spanish aristocrat. At the age of nine he lost his parents.
In his youth Bolivar visited several European countries and he has soared over the old world while revolutionary ideas. In 1805, on top of a hill in Rome from Avignon Bolivar makes a solemn oath to liberate their homeland from the Spanish.
In 1808, Spain was occupied by Napoleonic France and the colonies in America had a unique chance to gain freedom. In 1810, Venezuela was deposed Spanish governor, and in 1811 the country was formally declared independent from Ispanii.V the same year, Bolö´var became an officer in the rebel army.
In 1812, Spanish troops reoccupied Venezuela, to restore the colonial order. Bolivar fled the country.
In subsequent years, led rebels Bolivar is victorious, then suffered a crushing defeat. But in 1819, he spent his small army across the Andes were considered impassable, and suddenly attacked the Spanish troops in Colombia. August 7, 1819 Bolivar won the Battle of Boyaca, which became a turning point in the war for the independence of the colonies. Venezuela has been completely liberated in 1821, and Ecuador - a year later.
In the summer of 1822 in the city of Guayaquil in Ecuador, Bolö´var met with the Argentine rebel General Jose de San Martin, to agree on joint action to liberate Peru. But the ambitions of Bolivar played a bad role in the negotiations and San Martin, in order not to interfere with a close-minded revolutionary Bolivar on the government turned its troops back.
By 1824 the army of Bolivar completely liberated Peru, and by 1825 - Upper Peru (now Bolivia).
Bolivar dreamed of creating on the territory of Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador, Bolivia and Peru, a federal state modeled on the U.S.. The first three countries for some time really united in the Great Colombia. Bolivar became its president. But soon in the policy of the participating countries have begun to show trends towards the exit from the Gran Colombia. The atmosphere was extremely tense, in 1828 was even an attempt to kill Bolivar. In 1830, Gran Colombia broke up. Bolivar, realizing his burden of responsibility and the fact that he is an obstacle to achieving peace in the region, has resigned. Soon Bolivar died.
