Biography Abaza Alexander Aggeevich
1821 - 95. Educated at St. Petersburg University. In 1865 A. was appointed as a board member of the Minister of Finance, 1871 - State Comptroller, 1874 - Chairman of the Department of economy of the State Council. In 1880 A. briefly served as finance minister and retired after the manifesto on April 29 together with gr. Loris-Melikov and gr. Milyutin; later he was re-appointed chairman of the department of economy of the State Council and remained in that post until 1892. By its direction A. belonged to the enlightened circle, . which is grouped around the Grand Duchess Elena Pavlovna, . and was one of constant advocates of reform of the 1860, . when the prevailing view in government circles the reaction sought to suspend or new modifications to distort the liberation reform, . In the department of state control A. Tatarinov was a follower in the organization of control on a new footing. As Minister of Finance, he managed to undo the harmful salt tax.
