Biography William Herschel
(Herschel) (Wilhelm) (15.11.1738, Hannover, Germany - 25.08.1822, Slough, near London) March 13, 1781, Mr.. discovered the planet Uranus, which significantly expanded the known limits of the solar system and demanded a thorough review of astrological concepts of the time. They also were open 2 satellites of Uranus (1787), 2 satellite of Saturn (1789), over 2500 nebulae and double stars 806. G. opened the motion of the solar system in the direction of the constellation Hercules lambdas (cm. Apex). He also owns a number of other outstanding achievements in astronomy. In 1804, Mr.. G. drew attention to the relationship between the prices of wheat and solar radiation (dependent on the number of sunspots on its surface): he said that the price of bread for a century have changed in accordance with the cycles of solar activity maxima. Thus G. made the herald of a new science - heliobiology.
In honor of Mr.. named minor planet 2000 Herschel.
