Biography GARCIA Carlos Polestiko (Garca Carlos Polstico)
(1896-1971) Born November 4, 1896 in Talibone (province of Bohol, Visayskie Islands). He studied at the University Sillimanovskom, then Sillimanovskom Institute in Dumagate and Philippine Law School. Was a teacher, lawyer, member of the House of Representatives (1926-1932), governor of the province of Bohol (1932-1942) and member of the upper chamber of parliament (1941-1953). During the Second World War, fought in partisan units in o.Bohol. In 1946 he became minority leader in the Senate. In 1953, Garcia was elected vice-president as the representative of the party Nasionalista. In 1953-1954 he was Minister of Foreign Affairs. After the death Magsaysaya in March 1957, Garcia assumed the presidency. In November 1957, won the presidential election. In the elections in November 1961 gave the presidency Garcia Diosdado Macapagal.
Garcia died in Quezon City, June 14, 1971.
