Biography Horowitz Vladimir Samoilovich (Horowitz Vladimir)
(1904-1989) Born on 18 (1 October) 1904 in Kiev, early displayed musical talent and at 16 entered the Kiev Conservatory, where he was engaged in the class F. Blumenfeld. The first public concert given in 1922, two years later made a tour of Europe. In 1925 he emigrated from the Soviet Union. American debut of Horowitz's speech took place in 1928 with the New York Philharmonic. In 1933 pianist married Wanda Toscanini, daughter of the celebrated conductor Arturo Toscanini A.. At the same time Horowitz has chosen his place of residence USA. Extremely tired from intense concert activity, he was forced to halt performances in 1953, but in 1965 resumed its concerts. In 1986, over 61 years after his departure from Russia, Horowitz visited his homeland, where he expected triumphant success. Horowitz died in New York on November 5, 1989.
