Biography Cabet Etienne (Cabet Etienne)
(1788-1856) Born January 1, 1788 in Dijon in the family Cooper. Became Carbonaro - a member of a secret Republican organization of the Restoration (1815-1830). In 1830 took part in street battles. District Attorney obtained a place in Corsica, which has held for several months. Rejection of the July Monarchy (1830-1848) was reflected in the publications of the weekly 'Le Populaire' ( 'Le Populaire'), which Cabet published from 1833 to 1834. In 1834, Kaba has emigrated to Belgium, then to Britain, where he met with R. Owen. Unlike Babeuf Kaba believed that communism could be achieved peacefully through the general election. His novel Journey to the Ikari (Voyage en Icarie), which was published in 1840, described the country without the police, army and judges, with a democratic system of elections, the egalitarian distribution of wealth in the absence of private property. Utopian doctrine Kaba was called "Icarian communism '.
In 1843, Kaba has organized in France, Icarian movement with its press organ, which had great success among the artisans and workers. In 1848, with the assistance of Owen was in Texas (USA) plot of land, where he founded the first colony ikariytsev.
