Bence Camillo di Cavour (Cavour Camillo Benso di)

(1810-1861)
Born August 10, 1810 in Turin, capital of Piedmont (Sardinia) the Kingdom. In 1847, founded the newspaper 'Risorgimento' ( 'Il Risorgimento'), preached liberal ideas and have a significant impact on political developments.
During the Revolution 1848-1849 Cavour became a member of parliament in Turin in 1850-1852 served as minister of agriculture and trade in 1851-1852 as Minister of Finance. From 1852 to 1861 was (with a slight break in 1859) Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Piedmont, was led by both the Ministry of Finance, Foreign and Internal Affairs. Within ten years Cavour was one of the key figures in Italian politics. His main diplomatic challenge was to unite all Italy under the rule of King Victor Emmanuel II of Piedmont. Cavour promote adherence to the Piedmont kingdom of Parma, Modena, Tuscany and Cremona, to disengage from the power of the Austrian Lombardy and Venice. In March 1861, became prime minister of united kingdom of Italy.

Died Cavour in Turin, 6 June 1861.
