Biography Lepere, Auguste Louis (Lepere Louis Auguste)
(1849-1918) Born November 30, 1849 in Paris. Engraved on wood illustrations for magazines 'Le Monde Image' and 'schedule', as well as for a number of publishers. Later began to make prints on your own drawings, particularly remarkable views of Paris. Lepere did much to revive the ancient technique of wood engraving, produces color woodcut, worked in etchings, as well as color and black and white lithograph. The high technical skill and fine sense of the plot make Lepere one of the best engravers of his time and a remarkable master of wood engraving 19. His etchings noteworthy charming village scene beautiful autumn morning, and Amiens Cathedral, passing the massiveness and richness of detail of the famous architectural structure. One of his best woodcuts - Rouen Cathedral. Paintings by the artist are in the Luxembourg Palace and other museums. Died Lepere in the Dordogne November 20, 1918.
