Biography John Everett Millais (Millais John Everett)
(1829-1896) Born June 8, 1829 in Southampton. At the age of nine years, was admitted to the school of the Royal Academy of Arts. Together with DG Rossetti and W. Hunt was one of the founders of the 'Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood "(1848) and embodied standing in front of the masters' Brotherhood' artistic challenges in the film Lorenzo and Isabella (1848, Liverpool, Walker Art Gallery). This work is written in bright light and clear colors that do not like either the audience or the critics, her composition, despite the many errors in the pattern, very original. Often, an artist with great success managed to combine disparate pictorial and compositional elements within a single work. Such is the picture of Ophelia (1851-1852, London, Tate Gallery), in which the artist depicted the heroine of Shakespeare singing at a time when the water flow is almost closed over her. Milles joined in this song written with scrupulous precision flowering river and a portrait of a model, posing him in the bathtub with water. In the late works the artist was busy painting a portrait, when he chose the literary themes and depicted the details from memory, his work proved less successful. In 1853 he was elected to the Royal Academy of Arts and in 1896 became its president. Milles died in London on August 13, 1896.
