Biography MORI Yoshiro (Mori Yoshiro)
(p. 1937) Born July 14, 1937 in Neagari (Ishikawa Prefecture) in the family town mayor. He graduated from Waseda University, for several years worked as a reporter for the conservative newspaper 'Sankei Shimbun', Secretary-Member of Parliament. In 1969 became member of Parliament from the district Ishikawa, after the election he joined the ruling Liberal Democratic Party. From 1983-1984 he was Minister of Education, in 1991-1992 he chaired the Council of the LDP Policy Research, and in 1992-1993 - Minister of Foreign Trade and Industry. In 1993 was promoted to the second highest post in the LDP's secretary general, who served until 1995, when he was appointed minister of construction in the office Tomiichi Murayama. In 1996 he returned to the presidency of the LDP General Council, and after the election of Keizo Obuchi as prime minister once again become LDP secretary general. After the Obuchi suffered a stroke and fell into a coma, the LDP chose Mori successor as party leader and prime minister (Obuchi died one month later). LDP managed to maintain a majority in parliament during the next elections in June 2000, and in July 2000 lower house voted for the appointment of Prime Minister Mori. In the same month, Mori formed a new cabinet, key posts which have remained unchanged for the members of the government. In April 2001, Mori has officially announced his intention to resign.
