Biography Jean Nicolas Arthur Rimbaud
(1854-1891) Born October 20, 1854 at Charleville. C childhood rebelled against the strict rules at home and in school and not just running away from home. During these travels he wrote poems. In 1871, Rimbaud, Verlaine AP sent a poem Drunken Ship (Le Bateau ivre). Thrilled Verlaine, invited the young man in Paris. Here Rimbaud fought on the side of the Commune, and after its fall away from Verlaine abroad. During the trip, in 1873, after a quarrel Verlaine shot Rimbaud, wounding him, for which he was imprisoned. By the end of 1873 Rimbaud parted not only with Verlaine, but also with poetry. Soon he left Europe and took the dubious trade in North Africa. In 1891 he became ill and returned to France. Rimbaud leg amputated. He died in Marseilles hospital on Nov. 10, 1891.
Rimbaud was one of the greatest stylists in French poetry. His early stuff showed remarkable virtuosity in versification. The collection of poems in prose Illumination (Illuminations, 1872-1873) Rimbaud abandons its former splendor and complexity of images and resorted to more rigorous writing. One summer in Hell (Une Saison en Enfer, 1873) - book of reflections in prose and verse.
In the works of Rimbaud's life - this is hell, and any attempt to escape, only returns to the only reality - a new attack of despair at each awakening.
