Biography Searle Sebastiano (Serlio Sebastiano)
(1475-1554) Born September 6, 1475 in Bologna. The first skill of craft art Serlio acquired while working in the studio of his father, then he studied in Rome with Baldassare Peruzzi and traveled a lot, and in 1541 moved to France. Together with Pierre Lescot (1510-1578) Serlio participated in the construction of the Louvre. Francis I appointed him as the architect of the palace of Fontainebleau. In his architectural works he often used rusticated columns and the alternation of smooth and rough stone. Serlio died in Fontainebleau in 1554. The most famous architect designed them brought three types of theatrical scenery, described in his famous treatise on architecture (selected books published in 1537-1575).
