Founder of the first national Ecuadorian newspaper Primisias de la Culture en Quito "(" Primicias de la Cullura en Quito ", 1792). In his works "The New Lucian of Quito" (1779), "Letters from Riobamba" (1787) and others advocated republican and democratic ideas, argued against the reactionary clergy, for national independence. Author of several medical works, in t. h. work "Reflections on smallpox" (1786).
