Biography Vasil Bykov
Vasil Bykov (Vasili), p. 1924, Belarusian writer.

Born on June 19 in the village Cherenovschina Vitebsk region into a peasant family. In 1941, a student of the Vitebsk art school, volunteered to go to the front passed through the war, ending it in Austria, the Soviet Army officer.

After the war for ten years he served in the army, then demobilized in 1955 and deals only with literary activities. In 1950 wrote war stories and novels: "The Death of Man," Twentieth ", etc., translating his works into Russian. The story "The third rocket," written in 1962, the writer brings fame and recognition.

In 1960, publishes the story "Alpine Ballad", "Dead does not hurt" in 1970 - "Sotnikov", "Obelisk", "Live Till Dawn", "Go and never return". These works set Bykova in one row with the outstanding masters of military prose XX century. In 1983 was published novel "Sign of Misfortune", which received the Lenin Prize in 1986. In 1986 - "Quarry". Bykov lives and works in Minsk.
