BELLO Heinz (Bello)

Bello, Heinz (Bello), (1920-1944), sergeant of the Medical Service, who was executed for speaking out against national socialism, militarism and Nazi informants. Born September 5, 1920 in Breslau in the family tax inspector. After working a mandatory term of "the German labor service, he was called at the beginning of 2 nd World War military service (1939). In January 1940 he was released from military service in connection with studies at the Medical Faculty of the University of Munster. Called back in October 1940, he subsequently participated in the march on Moscow, received the Iron Cross II degree, Eastern Medal and the icon for injury. March 18, 1944 Bello appeared before the Central Military Court in Berlin-Charlottenburg on a tip-off. Being under constant surveillance, he pointedly expressed his discontent with National Socialism and militarism in general. The court found him guilty of "undermining the morale" and sentenced to "death, dishonor and deprived of all civil rights". He was shot in the machine-gun shooting range in Berlin-Tegel June 29, 1944.
