Kubitschek, August (Kubizek), (1889 -?), A close friend of Adolf Hitler in his youth. He was an assistant draper in Linz. He met with Hitler in 1904 in a local opera house and soon became his best friend. They rented a room for two, walked together, went out of town. In the face Kubitschek nervous, impulsive Adolf find an attentive and patient listener. "His speech was reminiscent of a volcanic eruption, - recalled Kubicek. - It has existed as though separately from it, as something independent ". At the beginning of 1908 Kubitschek left draper's shop and went to Vienna to learn to play the viola. In Vienna the same, but with the intention of becoming an artist, went and Adolf Hitler. They rented an apartment together in Shtumper - alley, 29. Kubitschek entered the conservatory, and Adolf was rejected by the Academy of Arts - from the blow he could not recover all my life. "He was rejected by the world, he became unbalanced," - recalled Kubicek. Soon the friends parted, and their next meeting took place 30 years later, at the Bayreuth Festival dedicated to the works of Wagner. After 2-nd World War Kubitschek published a book of memoirs "The Young Hitler I knew."

August Kubizek (1888-1956) and Adolf Hitler met for the first time in the Landestheater, Promenade, Linz. They were together in an appartment in Vienna, Stumpergasse 29, in 1908. After 30 years they met again when Adolf Hitler received August in the Hotel Weinzinger in Linz in April 1938. From 1920 on August Kubizek lived in Eferding, some 30 km west from Linz. |
