Aleksandr E. Fersman born in St. Petersburg in 1883.

Most of the childhood of Alexander Tamm was held in Crimea, in Fersmanovo estate. There he got carried away with precious stones.

Aleksandr E. Fersman Studied at Odessa High School, in parallel gathering a collection of stones.

He graduated from high school Aleksandr E. 1901.

Then he entered the University of Novorossiysk. But when he learned that the Moscow University is a good department of geology, it was transferred there.

When he moved to Moscow, then gave his collection of stones University museum.

His first scientific work Aleksandr E. Fersman written under the leadership of Vladimir Ivanovich Vernadsky.

In his works, Aleksandr E. investigated the formation of minerals, which dealt with physics and chemistry.

In 1912, Aleksandr E. Fersman became a professor at Moscow University, where he taught a course geochemistry. In parallel, he traveled to various geological expeditions, visiting Central Asia, in northern Russia, the Urals, and many other places.

In 1915 the Academy of Sciences was founded, the Commission for the Study of the natural forces of Russia. Aleksandr E. became a member.

In his book "Memoirs of a stone" Aleksandr E. Fersman collected stories of various minerals. This book includes the history of scientists called "Sparks of the past", "Sami blood", "Blue Stone Pamir", "lapis lazuli Elephant", "Kiss," "In the fire of volcanoes".

More than two decades, Aleksandr E. engaged in the research pegmatite veins.
In 1931 a book was published Fersmana "Pegmatites", which outlined the discovery of the law of distribution of valuable minerals in the different type of pegmatite veins.
In the years 1933-1939 Aleksandr E. released a four-work "Geochemistry". For this work, the London Geological Society Fersmana awarded the Wollaston medal.

In the old mountains of the Kola Peninsula, on Hibinah, the expedition of Alexander Tamm Fersmana found deposits of apatite (raw material for production of phosphate fertilizers). In addition, Alexander himself Evgenjevich has developed a new method of producing fertilizer from apatite.

In Monchy-tundra (in the Kola Polar region), Aleksandr E. Fresman discovered deposits of copper and nickel ores.

In the Karakum desert expedition Fresmana, discovered rich deposits of native sulfur. Before sulfur imported from abroad.

Also, Aleksandr E. deposits found in the Urals.
Academician Aleksandr E. Fersman was director of the Mineralogical Museum at the Institute of Crystallography, Mineralogy and Geochemistry, vice-president and member of the presidium of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR.

May 20, 1945 in Sochi, Academician Fersman died.

Aleksandr E. has written more than a thousand works.
