Biography Shukhov Vladimir Grigorievich
Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov was born in 1853.

Milestones in his long life - opening constructions, they live the memory of this remarkable man. Engineer Shukhov, a graduate of the Moscow Higher Technical School, has made hundreds of inventions. So he invented a machine for thermal cracking of oil, developed the design of pipelines, storage tanks, steam boilers.

But his main task, he believed the construction of various structures using metal. Under his leadership, designed and built over 500 bridges, including through such rivers as the Volga, Oka, Yenisei. Trains arriving at the Kiev railway station in Moscow, stopped under a huge, seemingly extremely light metal ceiling. At the base of one of the metal arcs plaque with the name of the author's design - Vladimir Shukhov Grmgorevicha. The call signs of the first Soviet radio, and later the first television program transmitted from antennas mounted on Shabolovskaya radio transmission in Moscow (height - 148.3 meters), designed by Shukhov. In all the variety of tower designs he used the form of so-called hyperboloid. The towers consist of a straight bar - they easily processed and transported to the site, easy to collect. The rods are placed in the generators of the hyperboloid. Far ahead of time, developed his design of spatial overlaps - Hanging steel lattice shell, arches, shells with double curvature, which are still used in construction. In the 20's, during the chaos after the Civil War, when the country lacked the metal, Vladimir Grigorievich developed the design of wooden floors, pipes and even cranes. And this seems to be forced to work, he stepped in the decades ahead. Nowadays, wood, reinforced polymers, bonded with synthetic adhesives, more boldly argues with the metal.

Engineering genius Shukhov left a kind of trace in the history of art. He gave a second life to a beautiful monument of medieval architecture - Ulugbek Minaret Madrasa in Samarkand, which straightened after the earthquake on the project and led by Shukhov.

Shukhov remarkably versatile talent, enormous energy and efficiency. 63 пЁпЎпЄп° engineering work, and each accounted for more than ten projects implemented.

Vladimir Grigorievich Shukhov died in 1939.
