Biography VOLKOV Leonid
VOLKOV, Leonid (1893-1976), real name Zimnyukov, Russian actor, director, teacher. People's Artist of the RSFSR (1945). Born 5 (17) May 1893. Engaged in the studio under the guidance Vakhtangov, professional career started in 1916. In 1918, played in the National Theater (Moscow) the role of Joseph in the "Miracle of St. Anthony" by M. Maeterlinck. Worked in the 1-st Moscow Art Theater School (1921), the Moscow Arts Theater II-m (1924-1927), the Moscow Theater of the Revolution (1927-1930), which came with AD Wild after the break with Moscow Chekhov, in the Moscow Art Theater (1943-1951).

One of the most important works Volkov was the role of Lefty in the "Flea" by Nikolai Leskov (statement of the Wild). This show became the reason for the split, after which 13 actors under the leadership of M. Chekhov Moscow Art Theater II joined the troupe of the Revolution. A few weeks later Volkov played a village council chairman Sidor Ivanycha in performance "Golgotha".
