Germanova, Maria (1884-1940) (cf.. name Krasouskaya-Kalitins), Russian actress, director, teacher. Born in 1884 in the family of Moscow merchants of Old Believers. Studied at the First Moscow Maria High School in a class with OV Gzovsky and E.N.Roschinoy-Insarova.

In 1919 she moved to Kiev, then to Rostov. Joined the 'Kachalovskaya group', until 1922 touring outside of Soviet Russia. In his previous roles (Grushenka Katerina Ivanovna, Olga in Three Sisters, Anton Chekhov, Mamaeva in a comedy by Alexander Ostrovsky Even a Wise Man Stumbles), played Helen Andreyevna (Uncle Vanya, Chekhov)

. In 1922, . refusing to return to Moscow, . together with N. O. Massalitinovym led a breakaway group of the so-called Prague MAT, . played Ranevskaya ( "The Cherry Orchard Chekhov), . Queen ( "King of the dark resting" R. Tagore), . Ellidu ( "Daughters of the Sea" Ibsen), . Catherina ( "Thunderstorm" Ostrovsky), . Medea ( "Medea" by Euripides), . Lady Macbeth ( "Macbeth" by Shakespeare),
. At the same time worked as a director. In 1926 came the role of Medea in the Theater Workshop (Paris). After the collapse of the Prague group in 1927 Germanova worked in the Parisian troupes M. and L. Pitoevyh and G. Bata. She played Olga in "Three Sisters", the Queen in "Hamlet", the mother of Raskolnikov in "Crime and Punishment" by Dostoevsky, and others.

In 1929-1930 Germanova worked in the U.S. film director and a teacher at the Laboratory Theater (New York), where he staged "Three Sisters".

Shot in the movie "Anna Karenina" (dir. V. Gardin, 1914), "Katerina Ivanovna (dir. A. Ural, 1915).

Germanova died in Paris on April 9, 1940.
