Born October 22, 1870 in g. Voronezh in the family of an impoverished landowner. There is an old noble family. Educated in Yelets gymnasium.
In 1886, wrote his first poem.
In 1896, translated from the English poem, Mr.. Longfellow's "Song of Hiawatha."
. In 1900, wrote a nostalgic story "Antonovsky apples" on the impoverished gentry estates.
. In 1901 appeared the first collection of his poems, "Listopad".
. November 1, 1909 became an honorary member of the Office of the Russian language and literature.
